One of the hardest thing to do for most webmasters is to get traffic to your new blog or website. But let me introduce a few methods to getting traffic to your new website.
To start off I am just an ordinary blogger that does not have any connection to anyone. I don’t have large blogs or high pagerank sites that I can link to jump start my site. The tips below are not difficult to learn and do not require any kind of rocket science thinking capabilities.
Here are the steps outlined below
1. Step number one I would recommend having a neat design, something that is appealing to the eye and at the same time loads fast with too many invasive popups and other javascript interferences. If you are starting a website new I would recommend a wordpress frontend and backend. Simply because of the SEO benefits of wordpress and the ease of use of the content management system.
2. Make sure you site is properly optimized for SEO. Important factors are on page optimization, fill in all the details like “meta tags”, “meta title”, “meta description” and “meta keywords”. If you are using wordpress and want to simplify this task let me recommend “all in one Seo Pack.
This will take some time to get traffic for your Site via search engines but it is well worth it. To do this you will need to build authority to your site. The best way I have seen is by updating your blog regularly and by building back links whenever you can to them. Regularly as maybe 2 to 3 times a week should suffice.
3. Guest Posting creates a large percentage of my traffic. What is guest posting you ask? Basically it is posting your articles on some other webmaster site or blog. Since updating your site regularly is very important some webmasters do not have time to do it themselves, so they allow others to post on their site for them, giving them a link back to the writers site instead.
Guest posting should not be underestimated because it is a very powerful method of getting traffic to your new site. One of the most important factors in guest posting is not the quantity of posts you write but for which site you write them on. So when embarking on guest posting spend a decent amount of time selecting the right blog to use. To assist checking your target site out you can use a tool like SEO Quake for Firefox which is a free toolbar that gives you the Alexa rank, Page rank, , back links, and age of every page you surf to. For example if the site has Alexa of 4 million, page rank zero, and just started 2 weeks ago, might not be such a good idea to guest post to.
If you want to find sites to guest post too then use this technique. Lets say you want to find blogs or sites, about celebrity movie stars. Go to google.com and search for:
celebrity movie stars blog “write for us”
This will give you a good list of sites that are looking for guest posters in that particular niche. Usually somewhere on their site a link to to their submission page, or perhaps you can contact them via their contact form, and sometimes they will allow you to create an account in their wordpress so that you can post to them directly as a contributor.
To wrap up this method on guest posting there is also a website called MyblogGuest.com , which is kind of like a broker site account between guest posters and webmasters who accept guest posts.
4. Last but not lest I would like to mention blog commenting. I have just gotten started with commenting on blogs, in just a few blog comments I received over 200 visitors just from commenting on one blog. The trick is the same as with guest posting. You have to select the blogs you comment on very carefully. Basically I recommend find top blogs in your niche, and then subscribe to them. Try to be the first one to comment on any relevant posts made. Keep in mind to create smart and informative comments relevant to the subject matter of the post and not just link spamming.
